title-welcomeWelcome to my website. I’ve tried to bring together some beautiful hi-res images of guitars, amps & effects that I currently own & gig – as well as a few that I’ve sadly had to sell over the years – and a few that belong to friends.

In September 2014 I joined the Mick Rutherford Band. Mick has recently been recognised by the USA Blues Hall Of Fame as a ‘Great Blues Artist From England’ and over his career has clocked up in excess of 4000 gigs including support slots for the Rolling Stones, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and The Who! Click here for the Mick Rutherford Band website.

I’ve played guitar since age ten & was gigging in Nottingham pubs by age fourteen. I became a regular at Colin Staples’ blues jams in the mid eighties & have great memories of The Newshouse & The Running Horse sessions. By 1988 I’d settled into fronting a 3 piece rock covers band and spent the first half of the 90’s travelling the length & breadth of the country most Friday & Saturday nights in the back of a Ford Transit. It’s taken me the best part of 35 years gigging & playing to realise that musically, my heart truly lies in the Blues & the British RnB boom of the sixties.

Over the years, in different bands, I’ve played on the same bill as some of the UK’s top acts, both here and in Europe including Hawkwind, Big Country, The Stranglers, Girlschool, Doctor & The Medics, Nine Below Zero, Toyah Willcox, Eat Static, The Quireboys, New Model Army, Dr Feelgood, Seven Little Sisters and The Sweet. I do regular ‘stand in’ gigs for the Nottingham based funk/soul collective Fat Digester when their guitarist is unavailable & in 2004 I recorded and produced their 4 track release, ‘Trippin’ Out’ at my home studio.

As well as playing, I also teach guitar and nothing can top the satisfaction of teaching my eldest son how to play. Unsurprisingly, he has incredibly good taste in guitars and together we are undertaking a Les Paul style build for him.

I’ve always tried to do my own repairs, mods & setups. I worked at Foulds Music in Nottingham after leaving school and was put forward by the manager for an interview as a trainee luthier for Manson Guitars near Exeter in 1985.

More recently, as family commitments have taken up more time, I’ve decided to focus on instrument repairs, assembly & restoration, and before too long I intend to start my first builds from scratch.

I have created galleries here for some of these projects and will be blogging future ones as they progress.
